It’s that time of year when I get to catch up and share a few favorite weddings from the past year. To kick things off, I’m excited to highlight Antonella and Kevin’s Bowie House wedding. As a Fort Worth wedding photographer, getting to work just five minutes from home is always a treat – but spending the day with two of the kindest souls made it so special.
Antonella first reached out to me with plans for a simple civil ceremony at the Tarrant County Courthouse. As planning progressed, they realized they wanted something just a bit bigger. Enough to include out-of-town family members who were already planning a summer trip to Fort Worth. So, they shifted the date and the location, but one thing stayed the same: the desire for the day to feel intimate and meaningful.
Antonella kept coming back to one word – soul. “We want something with soul,” she said more than once, and I loved that about her. Nothing cookie-cutter, nothing forced. Bowie House wedding venue ended up being the perfect fit! Offering that Fort Worth soul without tipping into touristy Stockyards territory. With several ceremony and reception spaces to choose from, Antonella and Kevin went with the “Arcade Room,” which they felt had the most character – and soul – for their micro wedding. I couldn’t agree more.
We started with a private first look in their hotel room, where floor-to-ceiling windows looked out over the Fort Worth skyline (and the lovely CVS parking lot). We then moved to the Billet Room, a colorful and classy little game room with gorgeous natural light – perfect for indoor wedding photos in Fort Worth, especially during the August heat. But Antonella and Kevin are total troopers, and they happily stepped outside as well, where we had more room for playful moments along the historic bricks of Camp Bowie Blvd.
After family photos, Antonella and Kevin took a quick breather before greeting their guests. A couple pro tips: I always recommend building in extra time for photos so there are moments of calm and quiet, and we’re not rushing from one thing to the next. Allow yourself space to be present – it makes a difference.
When it’s a smaller wedding – and when it fits the timeline and feels right for the couple – I LOVE when they greet their guests. It’s such a great opportunity to capture genuine excitement as everyone arrives and the celebration begins.
Their sweet ceremony was followed by a delicious family-style meal, drinks, and dancing. It was just a dream of a wedding for me – full of love, soul, and intention, with nothing rushed and no unnecessary fuss. Exactly what a Fort Worth micro wedding should feel like.
