Ingenhuett on High Wedding, Comfort Texas | Hayley and Layton

Joyful moment between bride and groom during their Ingenhuett on High Wedding in Comfort, Texas. Captured in soft black and white, the couple shares a quiet laugh, holding hands with sunlight filtering through the trees behind them.

A Charming Ingenhuett on High Wedding

I will never not be obsessed with Hayley and Layton’s wedding at Ingenhuett on High. It was everything I love – both as a photographer and as a person.

After a four-hour drive from Fort Worth, I rolled into Comfort, Texas – a small town that seems to live up to its name. It’s full of charm and history. I hadn’t been before, so I gave myself some extra time to explore, and I couldn’t help but feel giddy as soon as I saw the old buildings and cozy streets.

A One-of-a-Kind Comfort, Texas Wedding Venue

A few blocks in, I caught my first glimpse of their venue: the historic Ingenhuett on High. It’s a perfect mix of industrial grit and old-world elegance. I later learned it was originally built in 1867 as a general store and it once held the title of the oldest continually operating general store in Texas.

It suffered fire damage in 2006, but the current owners lovingly restored it – preserving its historic integrity while weaving in just the right amount of modern detail.

Quiet Moments Before the Ceremony

Up in the bright and spacious bridal suite, I met Hayley for the first time. She was sitting alone, writing her vows while soul music played softly in the background. I knew it was going to be a good day.

Laid-Back First Look in the Heart of Comfort, Texas

We kicked things off with a first look and wandered around the block for photos. Hayley and Layton didn’t have a wedding party, which gave us room to slow down, explore, and make the most of the little town. We even popped by their parked Westfalia van for a few of my favorite snaps of the day.

Garden Ceremony at Ingenhuett on High

The ceremony took place outside on the back lawn just behind the venue. It was late October in the Texas Hill Country, which meant absolutely perfect weather.

After a heartfelt exchange of vows, they grabbed a drink and we snuck in a few newlywed photos as the sun began to dip. The town had quieted down by then, and for a moment, it felt like we had the streets all to ourselves.

Cozy Reception in a Historic Hall

And then the reception. I died when I walked back into the main hall at Ingenhuett on High and saw everything fully decorated. The space was unreal: long wooden tables lined with flickering candles and sweet florals, against the backdrop of rustic stone walls, warm wood ceilings, and exposed beams. It felt like an intimate yet elevated dinner party.

After a delicious meal, Hayley and Layton opened up the dance floor, and their DJ spun real vinyl records! The music was amazing. Every moment felt effortlessly cool and joyfully personal – just like them.
